Fish Creek

Fish Creek is the defining natural feature of Hubbardston and the surrounding area. During the mid-to-late 1800s, the creek's reliable flow powered several sawmills that processed timber from the dense forests of North Plains Township. The sawmill era was Hubbardston's first economic engine, attracting workers and business owners who formed the nucleus of the village. As the forests were depleted by the late 19th century, the creek's industrial role diminished, but it remained central to the landscape. Fish Creek continues to flow through the Hubbardston area today, a quiet reminder of the waterpower that built the village.
