Parish Rectory
StandingBuilt in 1908 and designed by Detroit architects Donaldson & Meier. The residence for pastors of St. John the Baptist Church.
The Parish Rectory was built in 1908 as the residence for the pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. It was designed by Donaldson and Meier, a prominent Detroit architectural firm. The rectory's professional design reflects the prosperity and ambition of the Hubbardston parish in the early 20th century — a community of Irish immigrants and their descendants who had built one of the largest churches in Ionia County and now sought a fitting residence for their priest. Father Eugene R. Fox lived in the rectory during his nearly 50-year pastorate (1938-1986).
