Fr. Eugene R. Fox

Longest-Serving Pastor

Modern Era (1938-1986)

Father Eugene R. Fox led St. John the Baptist parish from 1938 to 1986 — nearly half a century of service spanning the end of the Great Depression, World War II, the social upheavals of the 1960s, and the sweeping changes of Vatican II. His extraordinary tenure made him one of the defining figures of 20th-century Hubbardston. A shrine at the entrance to St. John the Baptist Cemetery pays tribute to his dedication.
