Peter McKeone
Irish Immigrant & McKeone Patriarch
Irish Settlement (1880s–1930s)
b. 1861 — d. 1938
Peter McKeone (b. ~1861, d. September 30, 1938) is buried at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Hubbardston. His cemetery record lists 'New York' as his origin — a hallmark of the Irish immigration pattern where families transited through western New York before moving inland to Michigan's Catholic farming communities. Peter and his wife Mary McKeone raised their family in the Hubbardston area, and their daughter Julia married Edgar Clarence Stoddard, producing one of the community's largest families. The McKeone surname (Mac Eóin) is overwhelmingly Catholic in Irish records and clusters in the Connacht province, suggesting origins in County Sligo, Leitrim, or Roscommon.
