Mary Ellen Williams Osborne

Hubbardston Family Matriarch

Modern Era (1950s–present)

Mary Ellen Williams married Richard Osborne and raised five children in the Pewamo–Hubbardston area. Her maiden name, Williams, connects to one of Hubbardston's established Irish-Catholic families. Daniel Williams (1841–1924) and Ellen McHale Williams (1851–1888) are buried at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, and Theodore J. Williams (1875–1945) is also interred there — evidence of a Williams line with roots stretching back to the 19th-century Irish settlement era. Through her marriage, Mary Ellen bridged the deep-rooted Williams family and the Osborne name in the community.
